Introduction

Dr. Charles C.N. Wang obtained his Master's and Ph.D. degrees from Asia University in 2008 and 2014, respectively. From 2011 to 2014, he served as a visiting scholar in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California, Irvine. Currently, he is a professor in the Department of Bioinformatics and Medical Engineering at Asia University. Dr. Wang is dedicated to researching the fundamental theories of artificial intelligence to facilitate scientific discoveries and advance the development of personalized diagnosis and treatment in healthcare. He also serves as the Director of the Office of Industry-Academia Collaboration and the Executive Director of the Precision Health Research Center at Asia University.

As a biomedical data scientist, his research has made a tangible impact, attracting attention from government agencies, academia, and industry researchers, while also providing new tools for practitioners. He has extensive research experience across multiple fields, including computational biology, biomedical informatics, knowledge graphs, and the application of data science in biomedicine. He has published over 70 academic papers, several of which have appeared in prestigious journals such as Nature Communications. In addition, he holds multiple patents related to the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare and has developed an intelligent home hemodialysis monitoring and early warning system that was awarded the 2024 National Innovation Award, Taiwan.

He has served on the editorial boards of several conferences, including the IEEE International Conference on Bioinformatics and Bioengineering, IEEE International Conference on Robotic Computing, IEEE International Symposium on Multimedia, IEEE International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality, and IEEE International Conference on Electronic Communications, Internet of Things, and Big Data. He has rich experience in industry-academia collaboration in smart healthcare and has worked with companies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Delta Electronics, Trend Micro, Inventec, Baxter, and United Microelectronics Corporation to develop smart health applications. Currently, he serves as an advisor to Taiwan's Drug Evaluation Center and the Water Resources Agency. He was invited to share insights on the future impact of artificial intelligence and GPUs in precision medicine at the 2020 NVIDIA GTC conference.

Led by Prof. Charles C.N. Wang, the Laboratory of Medical AI and Computational Biology (CN Lab) is dedicated to the convergence of advanced artificial intelligence and life sciences. Our research harnesses the power of big data, semantic knowledge graphs, and deep learning algorithms to drive innovations in precision medicine and smart healthcare. We specialize in bridging the gap between clinical insights and computational innovation, spanning from the analysis of genomic structures and protein interactions to the development of predictive disease models and intelligent diagnostic systems. By integrating cross-disciplinary expertise, CN Lab aims to decode the complexities of biological data, fostering a new era of personalized therapeutics and enhancing global health outcomes through the lens of intelligent computing.
