Personal Data Collection Notice

Thanks for using International Internship Pilot Program Platform (“the IIPP Platform”). The system is maintained by Science & Technology Policy Research and Information Center (“the STPI”) of National Institutes of Applied Research. To ensure the protection of your personal data, privacy, and rights, please read the content of this Notice before applying for an account.
By checking “Agree”, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Notice and consent to the collection, processing, and use of your personal data as stated herein.
1. Applicable Scope of the Personal Data Collection Notice
This Notice applies to all services provided through the IIPP Platform. It describes the principles governing the collection, processing, use, and protection of your personal data when you browse or use the IIPP Platform and its related services. The IIPP Platform complies with the Personal Data Protection Act of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and other applicable regulations in handling personal data.
2. Purpose of Collection
The primary purpose of collection is to organize and administer matters related to the International Internship Pilot Program (“the IIPP”) and to support the management, coordination, and administrative operations required for its implementation as carried out each year.
3. Categories of Personal Data Collected
- Interns: Personal data may include, but is not limited to, name, photo, nationality, gender, date of birth, email, phone number, mailing address, passport number and other identification information, school/department name, as well as any additional information or documents that the user voluntarily provides through the IIPP Platform.
- Principal Investigators: Personal data may include, but is not limited to, name, photo, institution and laboratory name, email, phone number, and any additional information voluntarily provided through the IIPP Platform.
- Administrators of participating schools or institutions: Name, affiliated unit/department, position, phone number, email.
- In addition to the personal data provided at the time of application or registration, personal data collected and used by the IIPP Platform may also include personal data generated in the course of participation in the Program, as necessary for Program implementation, administration, statistical analysis, and outcome or impact evaluation, as well as other related operations.
- When you use the IIPP Platform, cookies may be used to support system operations and record activity. These records may include your IP address, browser type, access time, and related log data. Such information is used to improve Platform services. You may adjust your browser settings to block cookies; however, doing so may prevent certain website functions from operating normally.
- To enhance service quality, the IIPP Platform may compile and analyze data you provide. Analytical results are presented only as aggregated or descriptive statistics. The IIPP Platform may publish such aggregated data for internal or public reference, but no personally identifiable information will be disclosed.
- If you choose not to provide the personal data required for the operation of the IIPP Platform, it will be unable to provide services or process your requests. Certain functions, including application submission, review, matching, and use of the IIPP Platform services, cannot be completed without the required personal information.
4. Use Period, Territory, Recipients, and Methods
- The term of use of personal data shall be the period necessary for the STPI to carry out operations related to the IIPP, with no restriction on the geographical area of use.
- Personal data may be accessed or used, as necessary for the implementation and administration of the International Internship Pilot Program (“the IIPP”), by the Science & Technology Policy Research and Information Center (STPI); by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), as the authority commissioning STPI to implement the IIPP, including for purposes of statistical analysis and evaluation of program outcomes or effectiveness as required by NSTC; by institutions or organizations participating in or involved in Program-related activities or administrative coordination; and by entities engaged or entrusted by STPI, including the K.T. Li Foundation for Development of Science and Technology and other relevant entities involved in necessary administrative procedures. All such entities shall process personal data only within the scope of the tasks assigned to them and in accordance with applicable confidentiality and data protection obligations.
5. Rights of the Data Subject
In accordance with Article 3 of the Personal Data Protection Act, data subjects may request to review personal data, to obtain a copy of personal data, to supplement or correct personal data, to stop the collection, processing, or use of personal data, and to delete personal data. Such requests will be processed in accordance with legal requirements.
6. Data Management and Maintenance
The IIPP Platform provides functions that allow you to update or correct your registered information. If your registered information is incorrect or incomplete, the IIPP Platform may notify you to make necessary corrections or, with your consent, assist in updating the information.
7. Data Protection
- To prevent unauthorized access or misuse, the IIPP Platform employs security measures including—but not limited to—access control, system monitoring, and firewall protection. Only authorized personnel may access your personal data, and all relevant personnel are required to sign confidentiality agreements. Violations of confidentiality obligations may result in legal penalties.
- Where services must be outsourced for operational needs, the IIPP Platform shall ensure that contractors comply with confidentiality and data protection requirements and shall conduct necessary oversight procedures.
- For hostile, unauthorized, or unlawful actions—including but not limited to attempts to access restricted information, harm the website’s security, or infringe upon the rights of the Platform or others—the IIPP Platform reserves the right to request assistance from prosecutorial, judicial, or administrative authorities and to seek compensation for damages.
- In addition to the personal data provided at the time of application or registration, personal data collected and used by the IIPP Platform may also include personal data generated in the course of participation in the Program, as necessary for Program implementation, administration, statistical analysis, and outcome or impact evaluation, as well as other related operations.
- Users are responsible for safeguarding their account credentials and internship application data. Do not disclose your account or password to others. After using the IIPP Platform, ensure that you log out properly and change your password periodically to prevent unauthorized use.
8. Amendment of the Notice
The IIPP Platform reserves the right to revise this Notice at any time. Amendments shall take effect immediately upon being announced on the IIPP Platform. No individual notifications will be issued. Users are encouraged to review the Notice periodically to stay informed of any updates.
