Advanced Semiconductor Lab, Department of Materials and Optoelectronic Science
Research Field
Da-Ren Hang received a Ph.D. degree in physics from National Taiwan University in 2002. After one-year postdoctoral appointment at National Taiwan University, he joined the faculty at National Sun Yat-sen University in 2003. At present, he is a Professor in the Department of Materials and Optoelectronic Science, National Sun Yat-sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. His research interests cover optical and transport properties of semiconductor and quantum structures; growth and properties of wide band-gap materials, 2D materials science, sensors, and materials for energy conversion and storage. Professor Hang’s research portfolio is deeply rooted in the study of semiconductor materials and quantum structures, with a particular emphasis on low-dimensional materials, 2D materials science, and advanced functional composites. His funded projects over the past five years illustrate a dynamic research trajectory: from exploring novel functional two-dimensional composite materials for energy and biomedical applications to investigating novel nanoscale composite architectures as functional materials. These projects underscore his capability in synthesizing and characterizing novel materials, a critical skill set for developing novel nanostructures with tailored properties. His track record on these relevant projects ensures that he is well-equipped to tackle the challenges and opportunities presented in the fields of novel functional materials.
