Chou Lab
Research Field
Prof. Chou received her Ph.D. from the National Defense Medical Center, Institute of Life Sciences, and conducted her research at Academia Sinica – IBMS (Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Academia Sinica). She is a professor in the Ph.D. program in Medical Neuroscience at Taipei Medical University. Her research focuses on the role of chemokines in neuronal activity, development, and brain immune modulation under disease conditions.
Our laboratory primarily studies the mechanisms of the chemokine CCL5 in central nervous system metabolism, memory formation, and neuronal protection. We also explore the role of chemokines in neural regeneration, neurodegeneration, and disease development. Future research aims to promote neural regeneration or reduce neurodegeneration by improving central nervous system metabolism or enhancing neuronal activity. The ultimate goal is to improve patients' memory and cognitive function while delaying neuronal degeneration.
