Wide Bandgap Laboratory - 2D materials
Research Field
Niall Tumilty received his Ph.D. degree from University College London in 2010 (CVD diamond and device applications). Thereafter (2010 – 2011) he was a Research Fellow in the London Centre for Nanotechnology (delta-doped CVD diamond), and from 2011 -2020 he occupied various senior R&D engineering roles, most recently as Principal Engineer in Teledyne UK. He is a chartered physicist and engineer and has commercialized a number technologies from his 10-year stint in UK R&D industry. He has been a Faculty Member with National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) since 2020. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the International College of Semiconductor Technology at NYCU.
Niall’s primary research interests include synthesis and characterization of 2D materials such as h-BN, CVD diamond and related carbon materials, excimer laser annealing for phase conversion and thermal dissipation technologies.
Currently, we have 3 PhD and 5 Master students who are all to some degree investigating synthesis by CVD methods for direct and indirect growth of 2D hBN of a variety of important substrates. We are very friendly and our students come from all over the world to enjoy NYCUs excellent facilities, we are truly international.
Please indicate clearly what dates you can come to Taiwan, otherwise your application will not be taken further.
