Introduction

Dr. Sheng-Min Huang received his BSc and PhD degrees from Department of Biomedical Engineering and Environmental Sciences of National Tsing Hua University in 2011 and 2016, respectively. He joined the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Nanomedicine in National Health Research Institutes in 2017 and then joined Department of Biomedical Engineering and Environmental Sciences of National Tsing Hua University in 2018 for postoctoral training. He then moved to Bolite Co., Ltd. as a section manager for laser technology and process development in 2019. At the end of 2019, he moved back to National Health Research Institutes to continue his postdoctoral training. From August 2024, he joined the Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine, National Cheng Kung University as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Huang's research interests include but not limited to the development of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques, MRI on preclinical and clinical applications, and exploration of brain development.

Our lab focuses on MR neuroimaging techniques such as functional MRI, diffusion MRI, MR spectroscopy, and other novel contrast mechanisms. We employ these approaches on preclinical research as well as clinical topic. Current research fields include: 1) fiber tracts in developing brain, 2) ADHD animal model, and 3) brain microstructure in dementia. With the cutting-edge MR neuroimaging processing tools, we are able to look into the functional and microstructural properties of the brain.

Research Topics

 1) fiber tracts in developing brain

2) Small animal model MR imaging

3) brain microstructure in dementia patients
