Introduction

Dr. S.-J. (SJ) Tseng is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). His research passionately pursues the activation of proton-driven nanotransformers, triggered by the physico-chemical properties of the tumor microenvironment. By employing rational and digestible nanomedicine designs, such as tetrahedral DNA nanostructures (TDNs), his work enhances microRNA regulation and improves the efficacy of preclinical virotherapy and viral gene transfer, all while reducing the risk of in vivo off-target toxicity.

Located within the Department of Pharmacology at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), our laboratory is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of targeted cancer therapy through the innovative intersection of nanotechnology, virology, and nucleic acid delivery. Our primary mission is to engineer smart, safe, and highly effective therapeutic platforms that bridge the gap between basic pharmacological research and clinical translation.

Job Description

Responsibilities include conducting foundational molecular biology assays, assisting with the synthesis of TDN, and evaluating delivery efficacy. The intern will collaborate closely with laboratory team members to analyze experimental data, optimize degradable delivery systems, and present their findings.

Preferred Intern Educational Level

Undergraduate or Master's degree student in Pharmacology, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or a closely related field.

Skill sets or Qualities

A highly self-motivated individual with a strong interest in nanomedicine and targeted delivery systems. Basic hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology or nanomaterial preparation is highly preferred. Good communication skills are required for effective team collaboration.
