Introduction

I was drawn to the beauty of molecules by my high school teacher who motivated me to major in chemistry at HCMUE. Through college, I started developing a sense of curiosity of how people figured out the shape and arrangement of those molecules. I decided to pursue my master in organic chemistry at HCMUS, which helped me answer exactly the question. By the time I finished my training, I was inspired and encouraged by my advisor to go on a quest looking for the use of those molecules in fighting disease. This event shifted my path to an exciting journey exploring the molecules, but of much bigger size: nucleic acids and proteins. I joined NTHU for my PhD and postdoc training which allowed me to work in so many creative projects involving these big molecules (Cas9, Cas12, gRNA, saRNA, circRNA, viral vector, and more) and their therapeutic potential (stem cell programming, tissue regeneration, immunotherapy). At the moment, I'm writing the next chapter of my journey at NHRI by exploring the feasibility of high-throughput and genome-scale CRISPR screen paradigm for therapeutic discovery and development for cardiovascular disease.

  • Our new lab has a strong commitment to leverage natural systems and engineer them for the purpose of therapeutic discovery and development with the most advanced technologies.
  • We welcome and encourage new approaches and creative ideas to solve problems.
  • We highly appreciate teamwork and collaboration because impactful science is rarely done alone. Working in our lab is not only about doing good science, but also about developing as a scientist and a leader.
  • Members of the lab are encouraged to take ownership of their projects, contribute to shaping research directions, and build skills in communication, mentorship, and collaboration.
  • By joining our group, you will not only do rigorous and meaningful science together, but also grow toward becoming an independent and confident scientist prepared for the next stage of your career.

Skill sets or Qualities

These are the tentative skills required for the job. Depending on the seniority of the applications, they will receive training accordingly:

  • Familiarity with standard molecular biology techniques (such as cloning, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA/RNA isolation) and mammalian cell culture; hands-on experience preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with mammalian cell culture and transfections. Experience with primary cells or iPSCs is a plus
  • Bioinformatics software experience is a plus (Geneious/SnapGene, Pymol/Chimera, Python)
  • Highly motivated, curious, and a team player
