Introduction

Tzuen-Hsi Huang is a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan. He earned his Ph.D. in solid-state electronics from National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, in 1995, following a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from NCKU, Tainan, in 1988. From 1995 to 2001, he worked at ERSO/ITRI in Hsinchu, where he focused on high-speed poly-emitter bipolar technology development, device characterization and modeling, and RF circuit design. Between 2001 and 2004, he was with AIROHA Technology, Hsinchu, contributing to GSM/WLAN front-end chip design. In August 2004, he joined the faculty of NCKU’s Department of Electrical Engineering.
His expertise lies in high-frequency device characterization and modeling, as well as radio-frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) design. His current research interests include RFICs, rectifier ICs, and cryogenic CMOS integrated circuits.

Students in our laboratory receive training in the design of radio-frequency integrated circuits (RFICs), including components such as LNAs, mixers, VCOs, and PLLs. Recently, we have also launched a new research direction focused on cryogenic CMOS integrated circuit design, with an emphasis on advanced topics such as qubit readout circuits for quantum computing applications.

Research Topics
  • Cryogenic / Room-Temperature CMOS RF/mm-Wave Integrate Circuit Design
  • Energy Harvesting Rectifier Integrated Circuit Design
  • On-chip Passive Device Characterization and Modeling at Cryogenic Temperatures
