Introduction

Shuenn-Yuh Lee received the B.S. degree from the National Taiwan Ocean University, Keelung, Taiwan, in 1988, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, in 1994 and 1999, respectively.

He is a distinguished professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan. He served as the Technical Program Chair (TPC) of the 2014/2015 International Symposium on Bioelectronics & Bioinformatics (ISBB), and the 2015 Taiwan and Japan Conference on Circuits and Systems (TJCAS). He served as General Co-chair of the 2022 IEEE Biomedical Circuits and Systems Conference (BioCAS), the 2024 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Circuits and Systems, and the Organization Chair of the 2022 IEEE Asia Solid-State Circuits Conference (ASSCC). From 2013 to 2016, he served as the Chairman of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society Tainan Chapter. From 2016 to 2017, he served as the Vice Chairman of the IEEE Tainan Section. From 2016 to 2023 and 2026, he served as the Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Circuits and Systems.

His present research activities involve the design of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, biomedical circuits and systems, artificial intelligence integrated circuits, low-power and low-voltage analog circuits, and RF front-end integrated circuits for wireless communications. Dr. Lee is now a member of the Circuits and Systems (CAS) Society, Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS), and Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS) of IEEE. He is also a member of IEICE.

The mission of 「Communication and Biologic Integrated Circuits (CBIC) Lab.」of National Cheng Kung University is to improve human health. CBIC  focused on developing 「Personal Health Guardian - Wearable System and Platform with Artificial Intelligence Internet-of-Things (AIoT) and Artificial Intelligence System-On-Chip (AISoC)」. The mission of CBIC is to build a user-friendly development platform with innovative wearable systems, which consists of the biosignal SOC and modules, user-friendly websites and apps, and the artificial intelligence (AI) system on the edge/cloud. The wearable platform for wireless bio-signal acquisition allows users to access and monitor their vital signs anytime and anywhere. The main advantages of this system are real-time monitoring, convenience for wear, and ease of use. There is a series of products related to「Personal Health Guardian」which are being developed in Yutech to realize our dream 「Medical Electronics Garden」in the world.

The products of 「Personal Health Guardian」includes three parts: 1. Medical Market: (1) Wearable and wireless arrhythmia monitoring system (YuGuard), (2) Intelligent medical stethoscope (YuSound). 2. Wearable Market: (1) Smart clothing (YuCloth), (2) Arrhythmia monitoring belt (YuBelt), (3) Pet ECG monitoring (YuPet). 3. Educative Market: Bio-medical development module for wearable and IoT-based products (TriAnswer). The mentioned products, developed by Yutech, which spun off from the CBIC Lab at NCKU, can be employed in medical, wearable, and educational markets to satisfy customers' diverse demands and achieve the dream of 「Medical Electronics Garden」.  The YuGuard receives a TFDA number: 008050, a QMS number: 2183, and an APP: YuGuard in iOS. It has been used in patients for diagnosis, anytime and anywhere. Meanwhile, the telemedicine and video consultation systems with YuGuard and YuSound are being developed in cooperation with Chunghwa Telecom to provide medical treatment at home. The YuPet has been mass-produced and sold in China, South Korea, and Japan. The TriAnswer and YuCloth have been used in Universities and Senior high schools in Taiwan on training courses. The details have been introduced in the video: https://youtu.be/jdgV-7rmt5g and https://youtu.be/EImLhBrz7Q4.
