Introduction

Dr. Yen-Cheng Kuan is currently a Professor and Associate Dean of NYCU ICST and the Director of the Signal Processing Circuits and Systems (SiPCAS) Laboratory with NYCU ICST. From 2004 to 2007, he was a System Engineer with Realtek Semiconductor Corporation, Irvine, CA, USA, where he was involved in the design of an ultra-wideband (UWB) system-on-a-chip (SoC). From 2009 to 2016, he was a Research Scientist and Technical Lead with HRL Laboratories, Malibu, CA, USA, where he was involved in the circuit and system designs for wireless communications, image processing and unconventional computing. His research includes circuit, system, and heterogeneous Integration designs for various signal processing and data engineering applications.

The mission of the Signal Processing Circuits and Systems (SiPCAS) Laboratory at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) is to advance the frontier of integrated circuit and system design by bridging signal processing algorithms with cutting-edge hardware implementations. Our research focuses on the co-design of circuits, systems, and algorithms for emerging applications, including 5G/6G and mmWave communications, software-defined radio (SDR), artificial intelligence (AI), biomedical electronics, data engineering, the Internet of Things (IoT),  RISC-V, and embedded systems. We also research system-technology co-optimization (STCO), software-defined radio, in-memory computing, and ultra-low-voltage circuit techniques to achieve high performance and energy efficiency. Through close collaboration with academia and industry, our lab fosters an interdisciplinary and innovation-driven environment, aiming to translate fundamental research into impactful real-world technologies while training the next generation of circuit and system design leaders in the semiconductor industry.
