Dr. Ying-Nien Chou is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at National Chung Cheng University. His research focuses on functional polymer design, zwitterionic anti-biofouling materials, and flexible electronic devices. He has developed innovative strategies for surface modification of polymers via covalent grafting of zwitterionic copolymers, enabling robust anti-fouling performance for biomedical and sensing applications.
In addition, his work on elastic conductive fibers integrates nanomaterial deposition with polymer engineering to create stretchable strain sensors for smart healthcare systems, including intelligent tourniquet devices. His interdisciplinary research bridges materials science, biomedical engineering, and IoT-enabled sensing technologies.
Dr. Chou has received several prestigious awards, including the National Innovation Award and Future Tech Award, and holds multiple patents in anti-biofouling materials and conductive fiber technologies.
The Advanced Functional Polymer & Smart Materials Laboratory focuses on the design and engineering of functional polymers and composite materials for biomedical, sensing, and wearable applications.
