Research Field
Jen-Yeu Chen received the BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, the PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, USA. He was an associate researcher at Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories before joining Purdue. He is currently with the Department of Electrical Engineering as associate professor. His research interests span over wireless mobile networks, 6G NTN networks, LEO satellite networks, AI-RAN, edge computing, edge AI, distributed machine learning and quamtum networks.
LANDIS - Lab for Advanced Networks and Distributed Intelligent Systems
The lab is with abundant cutting edge equipment for researches of machine learning/deep learning (in particular distributed machine learning amd edge AI), UAV/drones and B5G/6G mobile networks. In addition to pioneering research projects, some industry-academic cooperation projects are also undergoing to develop applications and systems that fit industry's needs. The lab consists of two spacy rooms each is of around 225 m^2 for post docs, graduate, undergraduate students and international interns to study and to carry out experiments.

Job Description
The international intern will work with about 10 graduates/lab mates on the ongoing projects to gain experiences on developing practical Edge AI and AIoT systems that could really fit the the industry needs.
Preferred Intern Educational Level
Bachelor degree and above
in the area of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Information Engineering, Control Engineering, or other related area cover the pertionent expertise.
Skill sets or Qualities
- familiar with 3D printing method and layout
- familiar with programming on MCU and Nvidia Jetson Orin
- familiar with fundamental machine learning programming
- good communication skills
- patient and resilient to failures
Job Description
The Intern could learn pertinent skills and knowledge on B5G/6G NTN networks, LEO satellite network, the design of pratical routing and multicasting mechanisms n the prevailing LEO satellite network constellation such as Starlink.
Preferred Intern Educational Level
BS or above
on (but not limited to) Electrical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Control Engineering, Computer Engineering.
Skill sets or Qualities
- simulation programming skills: Matlab or Python programming;
- took related courses and gain excellent grades: computer networks, Internet, or digital communications;
- Github copilot or Gemini programming;
- willing to learn new things.
