Research Field
Emmy T. Chang is a faculty member in Marine Geology and Geophysics at the Institute of Oceanography, National Taiwan University, where she conducts research in seafloor seismology.
She received her Ph.D. in Geodynamics from Université Pierre & Marie Curie in France and has held visiting and research positions at JAMSTEC, Kyoto University, IFREMER, and Université Grenoble Alpes. Her research focuses on seafloor seismology, offshore tectonics, and lithospheric deformation in subduction and collision zones, using ocean-bottom seismometers, marine gravity, numerical modeling, and machine-learning approaches. She is actively involved in international marine experiments and currently collaborates with partners in Japan, Europe, and the United States.
The Geophysics Analysis Lab (GAL) is a research group led by Emmy Chang. The lab focuses on seafloor geophysics and seismology, integrating observations from ocean-bottom seismometers, marine geodesy, gravity data, and satellite products to investigate offshore tectonics and subduction-zone processes. Through international collaborations and participation in large-scale marine experiments, GAL aims to advance the understanding of Earth processes beneath the oceans and their links to plate convergence and natural hazards.
