Professor Ching-Fu Chen, PhD, is the Distinguished Professor of the Department of Transportation and Communication Management Science, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. He served as the director-general of the Transport Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government (KCG), Taiwan from 2013.2 to 2018.7. During his term at KCG, he successfully carried out the privatization project of the city-owned Bus Administration of Kaohsiung City and subsequently a series of bus reform strategies. In close collaboration with ICLEI, he successfully led the project ‘2017 Ecomobility World Festival’, which took place in Kaohsiung in October 2017. He endeavored to advance smart mobility in Kaohsiung City.
Dr. Chen has been in academia for 25 years as a professor of transport management at National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan. He actively participates in advising transport policy-making. His research concerns urban mobility, transport economic analysis, and tourism management. He received an outstanding research award from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Taiwan, and has published numerous papers in leading academic journals such as Transportation Research Part A, Transportation Research Part E, Transportation Research Part F, Transport Policy, Accident Analysis and Prevention, Journal of Travel Research, and Tourism Management. His excellent research performance has repeatedly made him ranked among the world’s top 2% of scientists in relevant research fields.
The main research interests of the Research Center of Tourism and Travel include Transport and Tourism Economic Analysis, Travel Behavior, Travel Demand Analysis, Smart Mobility, and Sustainable Mobility. The recent publications are as follows.
