Introduction

Prof. Yi-Chiung  Hsu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Science & Engineering at National Central University (NCU), Taiwan. Her research bridges biomedical engineering, precision medicine, and space biomedicine, with a focus on how microgravity-related stressors influence cellular and molecular pathways relevant to human health and disease. She leads interdisciplinary projects that integrate advanced in vitro models (e.g., 3D culture, dynamic mechanical stimulation, and microfluidic platforms) with multi-omics and AI-enabled data analysis to support translational applications. Prof. Hsu actively collaborates with clinical and industrial partners and is committed to mentoring students in rigorous, responsible, and internationally connected research.

Our laboratory is based in the Department of Biomedical Science & Engineering at National Central University (NCU), Taiwan. We focus on precision medicine and biomedical engineering with an emphasis on space biomedicine—investigating how altered gravity and space-relevant stressors influence cellular physiology, tissue remodeling, and disease mechanisms. Our interdisciplinary research integrates advanced in vitro models (3D culture, dynamic mechanical stimulation, microfluidic platforms), multi-omics and systems biology analysis, and AI-enabled biomedical data interpretation. Interns will have opportunities to participate in ongoing projects, gain hands-on experience in experimental design and data analysis, and collaborate with a diverse team that connects academia, hospitals, and industry partners. We welcome motivated students from biomedical science, bioengineering, life sciences, computer science, or related fields who are interested in translational research and international teamwork.
