Healthy Lighting Laboratory
Research Field
Born in Canada, Jonathon has worked in Canada, USA, Japan, P R China, Malaysia and for the last decade Taiwan. Starting with machine learning in undergrad, he embraced combining theory, simulation and experiment to design high power mid-infrared laser systems for his PhD. Computer modelling became key in the next stage of his career in Japan and China as he moved from high power lasers to femto-second laser microscopy and single molecule detection. Returning to his love for programming he returned to work on self-learning for evolutionary neural networks (at that time a new field). His recent work has been to combine many skills to seek to develop healthy lighting.
The main thing Jonathon likes about research is interaction with others and the joy of satisfying one's curiosity.
A hobby is website design and language translation.
The healthy lighting lab seeks to understand the effect of light on human beings and develop lighting systems that will promote healthy living.
1. Mathematical Modelling using C language for lighting characteristics
2. Development of App to allow Bluetooth control of ESP32 based lighting system
3. Improving Design of light control PCB to allow automated design.
