Introduction

Dr. Chun-Hsien Chu received his Ph.D. degree in the Institute of Biochemistry & Biotechnology from the College of Medicine at Chung Shan Medical University. After graduation, Dr. Chu conducted his postdoctoral research at National Cheng Kung University and the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, NC, USA to gain interdisciplinary research training in the area of neuroinflammation, neuroimmunology, and neurotoxicology. Overall, Dr. Chu has published ~60 papers related to the field of biomedicine, molecular neurobiology, microglial biology, and neuroimmunology. In 2022, Dr. Chu launched the neuroimmunology laboratory at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, National Cheng Kung University.

People in the Lab determined the molecular and cellular mechanisms of glia-mediated neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases using the primary neuron-glia coculture system, single-cell RNA sequencing approach, and transgenic animal models.

Research Topics

1. Microglia Biology;
2. Neuroinflammation;
3. Neurodegeneration;
4. Neuron-glial interactions.
